Children’s Hospital closes locations, suspends donations, turns “Walk” into virtual event
In response to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, our Eastgate, Mason and Northern Kentucky locations are closed until further notice. This includes Urgent Care at Mason. The Psychiatry Partial Hospitalization Program is also closed at this time. These closures allow us to combine our resources to care for patients who need urgent, emergency and critical care. It also helps us reduce exposure risks to our patients and families as well as our staff. Appointments originally scheduled at these locations will be rescheduled to other locations or to a video visit with the provider. If you do not hear from someone to reschedule an appointment, reach out to your child’s care team using MyChart or by phone. Note that children may be accompanied by one or two healthy adults. No visitors under 18 are allowed at Cincinnati Children’s right now. All other Cincinnati Children’s locations will remain open, but the hospital said it will reassess volume, patient needs and staff needs in the coming week. The hospital has 11 neighborhood locations, including the main campus in Avondale. The Liberty Campus operating room in Butler County is closed for surgeries. Any necessary procedures scheduled will take place in the OR at the hospital’s Avondale campus.
Changes to Fundraising Events and Activities
As a vital part of the Cincinnati Children’s family, your health, safety and well-being are important to us. We are following guidelines set by the Governor’s office and the CDC, and making some additional changes to keep our patients, families and staff safe. That includes some changes to our events and fundraisers, including:
In Kind Donations (non-cash gifts)
We are not able to accept any gifts of toys, crafts, games, etc. at this time. This includes food items to support our care teams. Reducing the number of visitor interactions and the movement of items into the medical center is key to infection control. Our Child Life teams currently have a good supply of toys and games in storage that can be utilized. We recognize and appreciate that patient families, community members, and restaurants want to support our staff during this time, so we are looking into alternative opportunities that balance your desire to give back, while also considering the safety of our patients and staff. Cincinnati Walks for Kids
During times like this, it’s important to take care of yourself and take care of your family. That’s why we’ve made the decision to make the 2020 Cincinnati Walks for Kids a virtual event. As a virtual walker, you’ll receive a 15th anniversary Cincinnati Walks for Kids t-shirt and $10 of every adult registration fee is a tax-deductible donation. Other Special Events & Gatherings
We take the health and safety of our supporters, patients and families very seriously. The medical center is adhering to the CDC’s and Governor’s guidance for social distancing and canceling all fundraising events organized by the hospital for the months of March and April.
