How you helpThe program provides 6th through 9th grade students the opportunity to challenge themselves academically and personally. These students go through a rigorous selection process based on academic merit, educational goals, and risk factors. Over the course of 4 years, student learning is guided by college-age Teaching Fellows, who are gaining the practical experience to succeed as future teachers and leaders. These relationships form the foundation of the unique "student-teaching-students" approach. It is that approach that fostered the inspired learning environment that leads to results. Students attending Breakthrough Cincinnati typically graduate on time from high school; 88% did in 2017, and enroll in college; 100% did in 2017.
About usBreakthrough Cincinnati provides highly motivated middle and high school students from underserved/underrepresented communities with the educational experiences and resources that will enable them to be successful in high school, graduate from high school on time and enroll in college. Over 200 motivated, yet vulnerable, students participate in the program each summer and during school-year experiences.
