Lake View Cemetery Foundation
About us | Founded in 1869, the Lake View Cemetery Association is a 285-acre site connecting Cleveland, East Cleveland, and Cleveland Heights. Modeled on the great garden cemeteries of Victorian England and France, the Cemetery is a peaceful urban oasis that integrates landscapes with memorial sculptures and architecture. More than 111,000 individuals are buried at Lake View, including luminaries from Cleveland’s past like President James A. Garfield; business magnate and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller; inventor Garrett Morgan; founder of Western Union, Jeptha Wade; crime-stopper Eliot Ness; and U.S. Senator Marcus Hanna. The Lake View Cemetery Foundation was established in 1984 to raise funds to sustain the Cemetery, including its educational and community programming, horticulture, and capital needs. |
