About us | The Northeast Ohio Black Health Coalition understands that food insecurity is a big concern in communities of color and although programs exist in the community through the school system they don’t make special provisions for children or parents and grandparents that are handicapped or under the age of 9. There are many children that will be greatly affected by the school closings. As an organization that works to address disparities we decided to gather food and issue breakfast and lunch during the school closure. Many of the children that we serve receive their only meal at school. Without those provisions many children would go hungry. The donations will be used to purchased food for children that are out of school and their siblings. This volunteer lead food delivery effort has provided 210 meals a day, and 4200 meals and snacks a month to families that are most in need. The families will receive a two week supply of provisions every two weeks. The provisions we provide families includes a menu for each day that provides the supplements children need for proper brain growth and development. |
