| About us | Providence House, Inc. was founded in 1981 to provide emergency shelter for children in Greater Cleveland whose families were experiencing a crisis. We are Ohio’s first licensed Crisis Nursery, and offer free, voluntary (non-custodial) emergency shelter to children, aged newborn through 12-years-old, who live in situations that impact their safety or place them at risk of abuse or neglect. In our 39 year history, we have supported over 8,000 children and families in crisis throughout Northeast Ohio. Today, we operate five distinct programs on our West Side campus and beyond: Our traditional Crisis Nursery offers emergency shelter and crisis care services for up to 20 children at a time. Our Pediatric Crisis Nursery serves up to 10 children at a time who also have medical conditions. Our Pediatric Crisis Nursery is also the site of our new Emergency Placement Program in partnership with the Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Children in this program benefit from the same shelter and care as children served through our traditional programming until a long-term placement can be identified. Our Family Center hosts our family preservation services and includes areas for private onsite family visitation, parent education, case management, trauma services, and Aftercare support sessions. In an effort to expand the reach of our family preservation programming, Providence House launched our Community Education and Resiliency Program in 2019. This program brings our case management, parent education, trauma, and other prevention services to families in the community, giving them the tools to increase stability, build supportive relationships, and increase self-awareness, resiliency, and parenting capacity. |
