Rothenberg Rooftop School Garden
Ways to help | Looking for Board Members! Our mission is to enhance students’ development of critical thinking, science, math and literacy skills through hands-on application of classroom curriculum and increased community involvement in the Rothenberg Rooftop School Garden. To do this, we have organized ourselves into a collection of individuals and organizations who are passionate about providing enhanced education to students in an outdoor classroom. Through this committed community, we make an impact in the lives of our Rothenberg students and families. Now, we are looking for several new board members to help in serving our mission. No experience necessary in terms of board experience, gardening experience, or education- just a passion for our work and a willingness to take part in it. Currently, we are meeting virtually, but look forward to a time when we can gather in-person again. We meet the second Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7pm. Members choose 1 or more committees within the board to take part in: Development & Special Events, Programming & Volunteer Engagement, Communications, Governance & Nominating. If you are interested in serving on our board, or have any questions, please reach out to Jenn Bakes at [email protected]. We look forward to meeting you!Program VolunteerWe are currently seeking volunteers to assist with garden programs on the rooftop and in the classroom, under the direction of Bryna Bass, Program Manager.Garden VolunteerYou can also volunteer to help maintain the garden by watering, planting, weeding, and harvesting. |

About us | Integrated with math, science, and language arts, the Rooftop Garden program creates opportunities to enhance students’ learning, develop critical thinking skills and foster stewardship of their surroundings and community. The Rothenberg Rooftop School Garden is more than growing things, or children getting their hands dirty – it is an innovative model that seeks to provide and sustain unique learning opportunities for students through hands-on garden-based lessons. |
