Ways to help

Administrative Volunteers

If your talents lie in making phone calls, sorting papers, preparing tickets and programs and other supportive efforts then join our administrative troupe. It’s a slower pace and a fun way to help the cause!

Collections and Exhibits Volunteers

Our Collections volunteers make a commitment to excellence and work very hard to maintain the professional environment and safety for our over 70,000 artifacts, 30,000 photos and 5,000+ documents and maps. If you’d like to be considered as a volunteer conservationist, please contact Jessica Cyders at 740-592-2280. Training will be provided. Most of our collections volunteers give time one day a week.

Program and Events Volunteer

Want to be part of the concert and program schedule here at the History Center? Our Event and Program Volunteers provide assistance and customer service at a variety of events and programs that support our mission. Like to cook? We are always looking for people to donate hors d’oeuvres and/or deserts for events. We also could use your help as kitchen assistance to prepare things like punch and plate snacks for serving. Volunteer for events, taking tickets, seating and general “gophering” and reap the rewards by free admission to the event! For consideration just call us and let us know which event you’d like to volunteer for. Come and get in the holiday spirit by volunteering for the Holiday Home Tour, Steampunk Ball or one of our other themed events. It’s fun, festive and rewarding. Volunteers for events and programs should be comfortable working with crowds in a fast-paced environment, have exceptional customer service skills, and enjoy working with the public and meeting new people of all ages.
