| About us | The Dawes Arboretum is one of Newark, Ohio's many hidden gems: a scenic paradise with a vast collection of forest and ornamental trees, plants, and shrubs from around the world. Founded in 1929 by Beman and Bertie Dawes, The Arboretum was inspired by the couple's love of trees and nature, a love that's carried on through the years by our staff and visitors. We strive to demonstrate the value of different types of trees, conduct practical and scientific research in horticulture, and provide pleasure to the public & education for the youth of our community. Come visit our nearly 2,000 acre facility and experience the wonder of nature! |
