Thank you to our Volunteers!
The mission at Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly is to relieve isolation and loneliness among our elderly friends. We have been around since 1946 when LBFE was founded in Paris, came to Chicago in 1959 and Cincinnati in 1997. We have worked to alleviate the loneliness experienced by the elderly who do not have a lot of family/social support. With COVID-19 the loneliness our elders experience is intensified due to our having to cancel our monthly Card Club, Movie Night, Third Thursday Nursing Home program. We cancelled our St. Patrick’s Day Party, Spring Party and Annual Dance Party. Our committed volunteers are responding to shopping needs and we have several volunteers calling our elderly friends on a regular basis. The students at Mercy McAuley High School are preparing “Thinking of You” cards to send to 80 elders and a we have a birthday campaign in place for those elders celebrating their birthdays in April.
Thank you to all or our volunteers who continue to reach our to our elderly friends and are assisting in responding to their shopping needs!
