URGENT HELP NEEDED DURING PANDEMIC
The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is having a significant impact on our two domestic violence shelters. As always, the safety and health of our women and children in the shelter, as well as our staff, are our top priorities.
In response to the pandemic, we have moved all women and families to motels to keep them safe from the virus. This unexpected cost is having a significant financial impact on our organization. This move is costing the agency an additional $30,000/week, that’s $50+/person. Your contribution will make an IMMEDIATE impact, whether you donate $5 or $500.
As the only Domestic Violence shelter in 5 counties, we are helping 81 individuals every single night. In addition, rates of domestic violence increase during times of isolation. As domestic violence rates increase, so do the number of homicides from domestic violence. We must be prepared for this.
During this worldwide crisis, please consider hosting a fund-drive for the YWCA through your social media channels. It’s an easy way to support our mission during this uncertain time. Here are some suggestions:
- If you have a birthday, suggest your loved ones make a gift to the YWCA.
- Host a virtual happy hour and request those enjoying a virtual drink with you make a gift to the YWCA.
- Challenge your neighbors to make a gift to the YWCA that you will match.
There are so many ways to help us ensure women and children escaping abuse continue to be safe. All donations will be used to ensure women and families fleeing domestic violence our housed safely and receive meals during this crisis.
Click here to make a gift now, or text ONAMISSION to 44321 to receive instructions on your phone.
Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.
