To exercise and socialize cats in the shelter, by taking them individually into bonding rooms for playtime on the Humane Society of Greater Dayton property. Official volunteers observe behavior and health and alerts the staff to any issues which may effect the animal’s adoptability.
Dakota Center welcomes the involvement of individual students who like working with children and/or those seeking community service hours. As an after-school volunteer, you could be a homework helper, reading buddy, activity assistant, or even the leader of your own special project.
Tutor students k-12 from 5-7pm.
Come together as a family to serve or as a High School student to earn Service Hours. Typical tasks include making tags, pricing, running the register and interacting with customers.
Assist naturalists as you work with children ages 3 to 13 in nature-based classes. Learn along with the children as you participate in outdoor and inside activities. If you enjoy the outdoors, this is a perfect volunteer opportunity for the young-at-heart, ages 14 and older!

Together we prepare all the food, toiletries, clothes and reading material to load onto the bus. You will have the opportunity to help prepare the meal we will be serving, make hygiene kits and organize in-kind donations for distribution to our guests.
