Crisis Prevention Advocates work on the behalf of the clients we serve to prevent eviction or disconnection of utilities primarily through direct financial aid. Our Crisis Prevention Advocates also complete intake interviews with new or returning clients to gather information about their household.
The phone operator answers incoming phone calls, returns general phone messages, and connects callers with community resources as needed. Ability to operate phones and interact with callers are necessary. Computer skills are not needed.
Our Clothing Pantry has two positions shopping assistant and donation sorter. Shopping Assistants work with clients to choose the items that are right for their family so volunteer duties include interaction with clients and following our guidelines for selections. Individuals co-lead a support group in our evening program. They help create a caring environment in which group members share their stories, feelings and memories and discuss how to cope with challenges in their lives.
Individuals provide help with preparation of materials for use in our support groups.
Individuals pick up and serve food and beverages. Most importantly they provide a warm welcome to all those attending grief support groups.
Individuals assist with events (set up, material prep, clean up, etc.) such as the Summertime Classic golf event that benefits programming at Fernside.
Provide literacy assistance to help youth prepare for a successful future.
