The primary purpose of the AJC training is to evaluate and prepare those who have expressed interest in volunteering inside a jail setting. As part of the application process, Clergy who enter into TJM’s Clergy Contact Visiting Program are provided a training orientation: Sessions are offered six times annually, the second Tuesday of the month in January, March, May, July, September and November.

New Worship Teams are welcomed with an orientation that covers the following: history of Transforming Jail Ministries, policies and procedures for Worship Teams, focus of the Worship Team ministry, and the future direction of Transforming Jail Ministries. Throughout the year, Worship Teams meet three times to receive ongoing training and supervision and support.

If you can only help out occasionally we have several ways for you to help. You can assist our staff in taking the elderly on social outings, celebrate birthday parties, assist with art programs, and assist with transportation, clean-up, and set-up for taking the elderly to visit nearby nursing homes.

We need volunteers to assist us with the numerous pieces of work we do in our office. We could use the assistance of volunteers who are familiar with computers – doing data entry and filing. We also need volunteers who can answer the phone, assist with mailings.

Little Brothers–Friends of the Elderly celebrate the holidays with our elderly friends because this is when they can feel the loneliest. We visit the elderly in their home/apartment and bring a hot meal with flowers and additional goodies. We also visit our friends residing in area nursing homes taking them a basket of goodies. We…
