| Ways to help |
Welcome Room VolunteerWe are looking for compassionate individuals who are interested in meeting with our neighbors in need and connecting them with the resources we provide! Our volunteers help connect our neighbors with the services we provide, as well as assist them in navigating other community resources. Many of the people we serve not only come to us for services, but also for someone who will be the listening ear they often don't find in other agencies. We want to provide them with services while also fostering hope in seemingly hopeless situations.Call Center AdvocateEvery day, an average of 200 struggling neighbors call St. Vincent de Paul for assistance. Call Center Volunteers return calls and assist people through application processes. We ask for at least one two-hour time commitment per week, but time/day is flexible. This opportunity has an option for remote work after initial on-site training.Thrift Store VolunteerHelp sort donations, create displays, straighten and stock shelves at our seven Cincinnati St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores. All our thrift stores have evening and weekend hours, so this is a great opportunity for individuals who work or go to school during the week.Gardening VolunteerHelp maintain our gardens and grounds by watering, weeding, and harvesting.Food Pantry VolunteerAccompany neighbors around our choice food pantry, letting them know how many of each item they can take, bagging groceries, and helping them out to their vehicles. On slower days, volunteers might also sort donations and stock the pantry shelves. Our food pantry is open Mondays-Fridays from 8am-4pm & Saturdays from 8am-12pm. |

| How you help | At St. Vincent de Paul, volunteers are essential to all we do. Everyone has talents and abilities that can be used to help others, and we offer both direct service and behind-the-scenes opportunities. Whether you would like to serve once, coordinate a group project, or get involved on a regular basis, we are grateful for your time and talents. You could also support St. Vincent de Paul by hosting a drive. Each year, we provide food, coats, personal care items, and other services to more than 100,000 individuals. By hosting a drive at your business, school, or event, you can help families right here in Cincinnati by providing life’s most basic needs. Each and every drive makes a difference for struggling families in our community. |

| About us | The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic organization of laypersons founded in 1833 by Frederic Ozanam and colleagues. Placed under the patronage of St. Vincent de Paul, the Society continues to derive inspiration from his thinking and work. The Society originated in Paris where Ozanam and five other university students were spurred by the challenges of their own classmates. They walked the streets of Paris, engaging in person-to-person ministry to the poor, confident that Christ would be revealed through their loving acts. The tiny group eventually grew into today’s international organization with members in 150 countries, all helping others through neighborhood ministry. Although part of an international organization, St. Vincent de Paul - Cincinnati is very much a grassroots charity: we create programs and fund a network that targets and directly administers to the specific needs of local residents; simultaneously, we draw on the experiences and the occasional help of Councils throughout the country. |
