The Power of Music – Connecting and Healing
In the most challenging of times, music and the arts keep us sane, lights the dark and ensures we stay human. During these challenging times that require social distancing, we are all seeking ways to connect. As TMS discovered over a century ago, one of the best ways to connect is through music – the common language!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Music Settlement (TMS) has temporarily closed our facility and suspended all programs and services since March 13, 2020. Performing our services not only enriches the lives of our students, but it also provides more than 70% of the revenues we need to operate. TMS employs more than 160 individuals; all of whom are feeling the impact of these very uncertain times. Currently, all programs and events remain closed through May 1, 2020.
For more than a century, TMS has been resilient and adaptive, always responding to the changing needs of our community and our environment. We are optimistic in our ability to make it through this pandemic as we know how important music and the arts are to the fabric of our society. We were founded on building healthy, thriving communities through music. We trust in our communities to rally behind something that continues to unite us all. As this is uncharted territory for us all, how we operate in this short-term remains fluid. We are assessing the situation daily, receiving guidance from state and federal sources, and will continue to make decisions based on ensuring the health and safety of all our constituents. Updates are shared on our website as soon as they are available.
